The End of The Spear
I am sure that is how the producers of a certain Christian movie feel. I found this comment on another blog:.Between Two Worlds
Delshafer:
I HAVE seen the movie. I have to say that if they had known he was gay it would have been a bad decision. I had a hard time watching the movie and not seeing Chad Allen. I saw Chad Allen up there and not Nate or Steve Saint.
On the other hand, the movie does not clearly present the Gospel, does not talk about Jesus explicitly and really does a poor job of telling the story. I fell in love with this story when I became a Christian and it is sad what they have done with it.
My Humble response:
delshafer,
Clearly you were distracted if you did not see the Gospel presented in this film.
What is the Gospel other than: God sent his son who was speared and now I live well or even if you kill us we will not spear you or the transformation of Kimo, who breaks his spears and works with the missionaries with a smile on his face, free from the endless chain of violence. And the biggy when Steve is faced with the chance for vengeance and refuses? How about films that show the Gospel LIVED OUT not just preached?
What is the Gospel if not that?
Does the gospel have to packaged in quotations from the King James to be evident to you? It was made evident to these indigenous people by the LOVE shown them by the women.
I highly recommend this film. We can't beg people to make films that tell the story of Christ being shared and lived out, then complain about every little detail.
Christians criticizing Christians for making a movie and presenting it factually how events occurred, yet still not good enough. Nothing is good enough for some in Christendom.
